About Our Club

The Glendale Hiking Club was founded in 1982 and is sponsored by Glendale Parks and Recreation

The Club was organized to provide organized hikes and educational activities. Programs on previous events, trails,

conservancy efforts, and plants and animals of the southwest occur at Club meetings. We are active in environmental

issues and support a number of conservation groups.

Club outings allow for full participation according to skill level from the new to the experienced hiker.  We rely on Club

members to lead our activities.  The Club has hikes on most Saturdays and some Sundays and weekdays. We have

an active Thursday morning group that schedules varied hikes.

Sponsored activities include day hikes, backpacks, car camps, community service projects, and occasional special

events such as rafting and cross-country skiing. Members are informed about activities through the newsletter,

, and the Hotline. See the current newsletter for the latest club news or visit our list of planned activities for the month.

During Club hikes, we stop for lunch or a snack break.  So, bring food and water.  After Club hikes, we like to stop for food,

coffee, ice cream or other treats.

There is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Page, which attempts to ask a number of questions you might have about the

club. There is also a  Directory Page. Which contains useful information such as phone numbers, club meeting info, an email

form to contact us, and a web directory which has links to hikes, info on local AZ hikes, and links to photos of hikes provided

by members. There is also a Forms Page which contains an Application forms that can be printed out and mailed.
